Best Fishing Spots Around Quadra Island
Cape Mudge
The southern tip of Quadra Island where strong currents concentrate baitfish. Premier Chinook salmon territory from May through August.
Quathiaski Cove
Protected bay on the east side offering excellent Coho fishing in late summer and fall. Ideal for calmer conditions.
Discovery Passage
The channel between Quadra and Vancouver Island. Deep water columns hold salmon year-round, with peak action during tidal changes.
Rebecca Spit
Long sand spit on the east side with excellent shore fishing access. Pink salmon swarm here during odd-year runs (2025, 2027).
Best Times to Fish Quadra Island
May - June
Early Chinook season begins. Feeder Chinook in the 10-20 lb range with occasional larger fish. Halibut opportunities.
July - August
Peak season. Chinook runs intensify with trophy-sized fish. Coho arrive mid-July. Pink salmon (odd years). Best weather.
September - October
Coho salmon peak. Aggressive fish hitting surface lures. Chum salmon enter rivers. Fewer crowds, great fishing.

Fish the tide changes. Slack water and the first hour of flood/ebb produce the hottest bites around Quadra.
