🐟 Chinook Salmon Fishing Charter – FAQs

Please reach us at jason@fishingstoriecharters.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The peak season for Chinook salmon runs from late June through September, when large, hard-fighting fish are migrating through the area.

Chinook in Campbell River typically range from 15 to 30+ pounds, with the occasional trophy over 40 pounds.

We use downrigger trolling with flashers and anchovy, hoochies, or spoons— proven setups for consistent Chinook action.

Most of our Chinook fishing is done within 15–45 minutes of the dock, depending on the tides and recent bite reports.

Not at all. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced angler, we tailor the trip to match your skill level. No experience needed!

While Chinook can be caught on any trip, a full-day charter gives us more time to explore multiple spots and dial in on where the bite is best.

Yes — within DFO regulations. Your guide will help identify legal fish, clean your catch, and provide storage tips for transport.

We supply top-quality rods, reels, bait, and tackle optimized for salmon fishing in Campbell River. You only need your fishing license.

Our Boston Whaler Conquest comfortably fits up to 4 anglers, with plenty of space for gear and movement during the fight.

We offer local expertise, premium equipment, and decades of experience fishing the same waters — plus a commitment to finding you fish, not just taking a boat ride.
