Current Fishing Conditions

The fall Chinook are stacked up in Discovery Passage, staging before their spawning migration. These fish are feeding aggressively, making for exciting fishing action.

What We Are Seeing

  • Fish size: Averaging 15-20 lbs, with fish up to 30+ lbs
  • Numbers: Multiple hookups per trip is the norm
  • Bait preference: Anchovy and herring producing equally well
  • Best depth: 60-100 feet depending on tide

Why Fall Fishing is Special

Fall Chinook are at their peak condition, having spent the summer feeding in the rich waters of the Pacific. They are fat, strong, and ready to put up a fight. The fall colors on the surrounding mountains add to the experience, making September one of our favorite months on the water.

Coho Are Coming

While Chinook are the main attraction right now, we are starting to see the first Coho of the fall run. By late September, the Coho fishing should be excellent, giving anglers the option to target both species.
