Happy New Year from Fishing Storie Charters! As we kick off 2026, the winter Chinook fishing in Campbell River continues to impress. Our guides have been out on the water whenever weather permits, and the results have been excellent.
Current Conditions
Water temperatures in Discovery Passage are sitting around 8-9๏ฟฝC, which is ideal for winter Chinook. We're finding fish in the 8-15 pound range with some larger specimens in the 20+ pound class showing up near Cape Mudge and around Quadra Island.
What's Working
- Depth: 80-120 feet has been the sweet spot
- Bait: Cut-plug herring and anchovy are producing well
- Best Times: Early morning tide changes continue to be most productive
- Hot Spots: Cape Mudge, Willow Point, and the deeper waters off Quadra Island
